ZipGood privacy policy
Short answer: ZipGood collects no personal data. Archive processing happens locally on your Mac, passwords are stored exclusively in the macOS Keychain, and the app makes no network connections.
Summary
ZipGood is developed by nuanyue. This policy explains what the app does with your data. In short: your files never leave your Mac, and no personal data is collected.
Data collection
ZipGood collects no personal data. Specifically, the app has:
- No analytics or usage statistics
- No crash reporting services
- No advertising or tracking SDKs
- No accounts and no sign-in
- No network connections of any kind — the app works fully offline
What stays on your Mac
Everything the app stores is kept locally on your device:
- Settings are stored in macOS user defaults on your Mac.
- Passwords (the default password and the password book) are stored exclusively in the macOS Keychain, encrypted by the system. They are never written to plain files and never transmitted.
- Folder access permissions you grant are stored as macOS security-scoped bookmarks inside the app container, so the sandboxed app can write where you told it to.
Your files
Archives and the files inside them are processed locally by the compression engines bundled inside the app (7-Zip, The Unarchiver, Zstandard, Brotli, lzlib and others). No file content is uploaded, shared or inspected.
Third-party components
ZipGood bundles open-source compression engines (7-Zip, XADMaster / The Unarchiver, Zstandard, Brotli, lzlib, LRZIP). These components run locally and make no network requests. Their licences are listed in the app under Settings → About.
See the ZipGood technology and open-source pages for the full list.
Children's privacy
The app collects no data from anyone, including children.
This website
This website is a separate system from the ZipGood app. The statements above describe the app. If analytics are added to this website in future, this policy will be updated to say so explicitly, and the website analytics will be kept separate from the app.
Changes to this policy
If this policy changes, the updated version will be published at the same URL with a new "last updated" date.
