Extracting Archives with ZipGood
Short answer: To extract an archive with ZipGood, double-click it, drop it on the Dock icon, or right-click it in the Finder and choose an extract command. ZipGood tries your saved passwords silently and follows your name-conflict policy.
Supported extraction formats
ZipGood opens RAR, 7z, ZIP, TAR, GZIP, BZIP2, XZ, LZMA, LZIP, Brotli, Zstandard, LZ4, LRZIP, WIM, CAB, ISO and DMG archives. Split archives such as .7z.001, .z01 and .part1.rar are joined automatically.
Password handling
If an archive is password-protected, ZipGood first tries your password book and default password silently, and only then asks you to type a password. Passwords are stored in the macOS Keychain.
Name conflicts
When an extracted file has the same name as an existing file, ZipGood follows the policy you chose: rename the incoming file, overwrite the existing file, or skip it.
Where extracted files go
By default, extracted files are written next to the archive. macOS sandboxing may ask you to grant access to the destination folder once; ZipGood remembers your choice securely as a security-scoped bookmark.
