Getting Started with ZipGood

Short answer: To get started with ZipGood, install it from the Mac App Store on a Mac running macOS 13 Ventura or later, then drag files onto the app window to compress them, or open an archive to extract it.

System requirements

  • macOS 13 Ventura or later
  • Apple Silicon and Intel Macs are both supported natively
  • Available from the Mac App Store

Compress your first archive

  1. Drag files or folders onto the ZipGood window, or onto its Dock icon.
  2. Pick a format — 7z, ZIP, TAR, DMG, ISO and more. Each format shows its own options.
  3. Click the compress button. Options are remembered per format, so next time is one click.

Extract your first archive

  • Double-click an archive, drop it on the Dock icon, or right-click it in the Finder and choose an extract command.
  • If the archive is password-protected, ZipGood first tries your password book and default password silently, then asks.
  • When a name conflict occurs, ZipGood follows your chosen policy: rename, overwrite or skip.

Enable the Finder extension

  1. Open System Settings → General → Login Items & Extensions.
  2. Scroll to Extensions → Finder and enable ZipGood.
  3. Right-click any file or folder in the Finder — the ZipGood commands are there.
